NC DataPalooza

HQ Raleigh and Forward Impact are proud to host the second annual NC DataPalooza! The open-data competition connects local experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs to relevant, clean data drawn from federal, state, and local resources. This open data is used to develop applications and solutions that catalyze positive community and economic impact. This year’s event will focus on using open data to spark health innovation. By hosting NC DataPalooza for the second year in a row, the Triangle will be recognized as a center for open data, collaboration, and entrepreneurial innovation, furthering our goal to make this region a top five entrepreneurial community in the country.

Triangle Startup Weekend: Open Health Data on May 16th-18th

Who: TSW: Health DataJam brings together passionate health professionals, students, entrepreneurs, developers, and designers on a mission to revolutionize the health sector through relevant open data.

What: The weekends are 54-hour experiential learning events that provide participants the opportunity to pitch ideas, collaborate with others who have complementary skill sets, and produce startups that solve important health problems using open data. This particular Startup Weekend serves as a lead-in to the 2nd Annual NC DataPalooza competition.

Why: Through collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, community building, and leveraging open data, we can positively impact the future of healthcare, help build healthy cities, and encourage healthy behavior.

  • NC Datapalooza Open Data Portal – Find all of the data sets that the Data Tiger Team has curated. Look over the data sets to become familiar with what is available and suggest additional data sets that may be helpful for your idea

Former aerospace engineer turned product and user experience designer. Worked at NASA Langley, Lenovo, and founded DXLab Design. At DXLab Design, 70% of our time is startup consulting, 20% internal ventures, and 10% is internal research. We use a design thinking process to craft products at the intersection of digital and physical worlds. We're passionate about wellness, education, and humanizing emerging tech.

We believe that design-minded entrepreneurs are becoming increasingly necessary to navigate today's fuzzy problems. Our goal is to inspire creative confidence in our community and encourage ambitious entrepreneurs to utilize design thinking.
